How many times did Bernadette see the Virgin Mary?
The story of Lourdes is well known. Between February 11 and July 16, 1858, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared eighteen times to fourteen-year-old Bernadette Soubirous in that small town located in the foothills of the Pyrenee mountains of southern France.
Saint Marie-Bernarde Soubirous saw the first of her 18 'visions' in Lourdes on 11 February 1858. Lourdes in 1858 was an inconspicuous little French town on the Gave de Pau River at the foot of the Pyrenees, with around 4,000 inhabitants.
Bernadette claims to see the Virgin Mary. In southern France, Marie-Bernarde Soubirous, a 14-year-old French peasant girl, first claims to have seen the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ and a central figure in the Roman Catholic religion.
There were a total of seventeen apparitions over the year 1858. Our Lady told St. Bernadette that we were to pray for the Conversion of Sinners, and she stated, “I am the Immaculate Conception”.
- A vision of the souls in Hell.
- Prediction of the end of WWI and a prediction of the beginning of WWII as well as a request to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
- A vision of the Pope, along with other bishops, priests, religious and lay people, being killed by soldiers.
On her deathbed, as she suffered from severe pain and in keeping with the Virgin Mary's admonition of "Penance, Penance, Penance," Bernadette proclaimed that "all this is good for Heaven!" Her final words were, "Blessed Mary, Mother of God, Pray for me". Soubirous's body was laid to rest in the Saint Gildard Convent.
The book is based on the true story of a peasant girl of Lourdes, France, who had visions of the Virgin Mary.
Alleged medical properties. Many believers experience Lourdes water as helping to improve their health, but there is a risk that sick people may stop effective medical procedures if they have too much confidence in the water, which may at times be healing simply by virtue of the placebo effect.
A miracle at Lourdes last was declared in 2013. It involved an Italian woman who visited Lourdes in 1989, suffering severe high blood pressure and other problems. Not all declared miracles pass through Lourdes.
She urges all people, regardless of culture or beliefs, to open their minds and hearts to God. Mother Mary explains how to live more fully conscious of our presence and purpose here on earth, and how to prepare ourselves for re-entry into the spirit world after physical death.
What was the miracle at Lourdes?
From February 11 to July 16, 1858, Saint Bernadette Soubirous met the Blessed Virgin Mary eighteen times at the Grotto at Lourdes, France. Despite the Church's and town's growing hesitation surrounding the Grotto's apparitions and cures, an ecclesiastical committee declared the apparition as authentic in 1860.
The lady then vanished and Bernadette could not comprehend what she had seen. The young girl continued to visit the grotto and pray with the Blessed Virgin Mary, who asked Bernadette to convey the message of repentance and prayer.

Bernadette herself moved away from Lourdes and joined a nunnery in Nevers, where she lived the rest of her life. She died in 1879 of tuberculosis. As part of the canonization process, her body was exhumed three separate times, in 1909, 1919, and finally in 1925, when she was moved to the crystal casket.
The Miracle of the Sun occurred on 13 October 1917 near Fatima in Portugal. Thousands saw the sun apparently spinning in the sky, becoming blue and then yellow and changing size, for about 10 minutes. The faithful, at Fatima for a promised miracle, saw it as a validation of their belief.
The Vatican revealed the full text of the "Third Secret of Fatima" today and issued an interpretation saying the 1917 vision foretold the attempt to kill Pope John Paul II 64 years later.
What is the True Story of Our Lady of Fatima? The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in 1917 in Fatima, Portugal, on the 13th day of the month from May to October. Truly miraculous or not, the incorrupt bodies of saints are considered holy relics and are treated with great esteem in both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. Some are administered acid baths or other treatments to help sustain their incorruptibility.
